Discussions that mention vicodin

Hi,
Your story sounds oh so familiar, I have had 4 attempts at a fusion in 3 yrs. The last 1 was this past Nov 11 and then 4 days after that they did the front approach. I am approaching 5 months post op and I still have the nerve damage syptoms in my left foot and leg. I could not be repaired with this last 2 surgery, they secured my L4-5/L5-S1 vertibre at a grade 2 to spondy, opened all the places that were compressing the nerve and thats that, hopefully I will stay like that forever. I have been on 1500 mg of neurontin, ES vicodin every 4-6 hrs., flexeril every 8 hrs., and pamalor to help at bedtime. I have not been daring enough to try the reduction of the neurontin to test the waters, it is still very obvious that I do need what I am taking.

I was told that it takes up to a year for the nerve to repair itself, so don't dispair, there is still alot of hope that things will be very different by your anniversary date. I am still in hard brace, no therapy yet, doc wants my lumbar area as stiff as possible for as long as possible to encourage the fusions to take, I of course think that I have reached the legnth of possibility already, although he disaggrees with me, and you know he wins most of the time, lol.

I am so sorry to hear that you and Allen are still not done with your medical story so to speak. If we all compiled our histories on here we would have many volumes to read of how the medical profession has saved some and not others.

May God Bless and watch over you.
