Discussions that mention vicodin

[QUOTE=sbu91;2793953]I'm curious how bad the gum surgery is? I have one tooth with a recessed gum and the periodontist is recommending the surgery you mentioned - taking gum from the roof of my mouth to replace the gum of the recessed tooth. This sounds just awful. How bad was it? How much pain did you have? How long did it take to heal? Did you have trouble talking, etc.

Thanks for any help you can provide. I'm not sure I want to have the surgery and what the risk is if I don't....

I've had the surgery twice, last fall and then again just three weeks ago (on different teeth). I too was horrified by the thought of it, but I can honestly say that it wasn't as bad as I was expecting. It's not exactly a walk in the park either, but thanks to IV sedation and Vicodin, it's bearable. The procedure itself isn't even the worst part...it's not being able to eat normally or brush your teeth thoroughly for a week or two afterwards. Even ice cream gets old after a while!

Not sure if I need more surgery or not yet. I go back for a postop check next week.

You don't want your teeth to fall out due to the recession!

Good luck to you.
