Knee & Hip Problems board

I just read your post tonight, sorry I havn't logged in sooner. I had my replacement 6/19 this year, about 7 wks out now & not having good results so far, I was the first 4 wks though...lucky me. I did not plan on having to go at this all alone but I lost my husband 6 months ago to pancreatic cancer. It's been a long hard road for me. I'm 46 with severe osteo & was left with no choice but a TKR to hopefully give me a chance at being able to continue working on my feet full time. Most people I hear that have a TKR work & some don't. My problem is severe pain, & lack of mobility. The Pt people say I'm expecting too much too soon. I don't think so, not at 7 wks out from surgery. I'm walking with assistance with a cane, taking vicodin & darvocet & having a real hard time sleeping. I know several people who have had it done and went through with flying colors! So you can't always compare yourself to others....REMEMBER THAT. If your in a lot of pain like I was sometimes you just have to take the chance like I did....nothing is 100 % sure. A friend of mine just had it done 5 months ago & she's 55 & is doing WONDERFUL! In answer to your question....if you have a bad back, yes having a TKR will probably agrivate it as it surely did mine. But you will bounce back after about 4 wks though. I just always keep God in my heart & continue praying:angel: that this will turn around soon.

I hope this helps you & not scare you away because that's not my intent. Yes, if I had to do it over again I would do it. Let me know if you have any questions.
