Discussions that mention vioxx

Pain Management board

I have LS and Cervical Radiculopathy, severe scoliosis and the majority of my pain is in my leg that was fractured when I was crushed in a work accident. My x-rays / MRI show some degenerization of the bone and RSD.

My pain is mostly nerve related. I feel like either the 4mg of Suboxone or the 300mg Neurontin I just took an hour ago took a little off the edge of the pain. Nothing really exciting but if anything non-narcotic will work I'd really be happy.

I'll bring up the Topamax and see what they say about it tomorrow. They also gave me Flexeril and Celebrex to take, but I hate just throwing meds at the pain in hopes something will work. I'd rather take one or two and see if I can get the meds working properly. I thought there was something negative about the Celebrex come out around the same time as the Vioxx thing, so I am hesistant to take the Celebrex.

I just hate the nerve pain, I can deal with the others, its just the burning and throbbing nerve pain that really irritates me the most.

Personally-for nerve pain-which I had with my ulnar entrapments-and I have now with unlar demylenations...I was on neurontin/depakote/tegretol for the entrapments...I'm on topomax and just switched from effexor to cymbalta now---I have to say the neurontin/depakote/tegretol seemed to work better I think (or maybe this pain is worse-or my memory faded the pain from 2 yrs ago...)

Personally-I use anything and everything they will let me try. Have you tried the Lidocaine patches? I've used them on my elbows many times-they don't stay on too well cause it's a joint (bends ya know :) ) but it helps with the pain....it's non narcotic...I have seen people mention a cream that has lidocaine...

What is LS?

They aren't sure what is wrong with me yet. All. my rheumatologist stuff came back fine-but my nerves are demyelinating-my arms are going bonkers....my leg is starting also...

Topomax is NOT Helping me sleep. I wake up around 11 or 12 every night and am up for hours....it might be partially responsible for the neuropathy in my legs--but that could be from the rest of my symptoms.
