Wonder,
I too was put on the pill in my early 20's and went off of it after the 1st 2 months due to the same reaction you got. But decided in my 30's to go back on it. I would get my period every 50-60 days or so and was tired of taking pregnancy tests all the time. They were always negative. I was so irregular.

As for checking for PCOS. My Tranvaginals always shoed large cysts and clusters of small cysts but never showed enlraged ovaries. My GP who is great sent me to a Endocrinologist and he ran some tests. He felt I was PCOS as well as my GP and put me on Metformun. Yet it didnt help. I think I was too much of a mess.

The Lap did not show enlarged ovaries either, but when I had my Hyst my OB called me and said my ovaries were very enlarged, and felt I was PCOS. As well as my Uteris was the size of a 6 month pregnancy and my Uteris was a mess. It was damaged.

Sometimes a doc realy doesnt know what is up until they open you up. I would highly recomend a Lap. That is a good start.

Hi Tired,
I understand what you are going through. Honestly I recomend the Hyst. I don't regret it at all. I was 39 when I had my Hyst done. I am now 41. Everything removed but my cervix. Yes, I am on hormones but a small dose.
i am on 0.05mg of Estroderm. It is a patch I change 2x a week. UI am also on Xanax because I developed anxiety due to the forced menopause. It does help. I developed hart palps and other issues. believe me it is worth the Hyst. I don'r have anymore pain what so ever. Listen depending on your situation they may not take out the other ovary, but honsestly especialy if you have cyst issues I would have it taken out. at least you dont have to worry about Ovarian Cancer then.

Hey djl -
Thanks for replying. I'll be honest. I'm really hesitate about taking hormones because I really never heard anything good about them but I also don't know anything about them either. You said you are on a low dosage. Did you have weight gain as well? I'm already about 30 lbs. overweight and I'm only 5'4". You mentioned other issues. Would you mind if what some of the 'others' are? If you do, that's OK. I understand.
Hi Tired
I have not gained weight due to this. Thank God. Believe me I was concerned about that too since I too can stand loose at least 20 pounds myself.
As for other issues, well it is realy alot of anxiety problems. Hart Palps, dizzy spells lightheadedness, trouble breathing almost passing out at times. I thought I was having a heart attack. The Xanax realy does help with these issues. But it has gotton alot better. It was tough the 1st few months. But now I seem to only need the Xanax during the warm months. Oh and of coarse you deal with hot flashes and mood swings.

Hi djl - Thanks for info. It's nice to know that it you have had good luck with the hormones. I was just given the name of a good gyn by a lady I work with so I'm going to see about seeing her and getting a second opinion.
Thanks again!
