Discussions that mention xanax

Inner Ear Disorders board

Hi there--

The standard treatment for VN includes time and vestibular therapy. Tranquilizers are sometimes prescribed to temporarily relieve dizziness as well...the most common seem to be valium, klonopin, and xanax. Using them often can interfere with recovery, however.

Sometimes SSRI antidepressants are prescribed for VN just to alleviate the depression and anxiety associated with the condition, and some docs think that the VN depletes the neurochemicals (I agree!). Therefore, the ami might also help one feel a bit better, although I've never heard of being prescribed for VN. I think I've read that tricyclics like ami can help alleviate dizziness in general b/c of their anticholenergic properties. I don't know what this means and I don't know if that includes VN.

Hope you're feeling better soon!

(Yes--definitely consider giving up the chocolate--super hard, I know, but it does seem to affect many. I sneak a little bit sometimes with no major effects. A friend of mine gets super bad migraines after even a few chocolate chips...it all depends on your body.)
