Asthma board

My husband has been on xolair (2 shots every 2 weeks) since november 2004. It has been a wonderful med and he is now completely off of the prednisone he had taken daily for the last 10 yrs. He still does his inhalers (serevant and flovent) but is even off the protonix he had taken for acid reflux. I was wondering if anyone else is on xolair and what have been your results? Thank you.

I started Xolair a few months ago, it had seemed to begin to help but since the grasses are blooming I'm having a really hard time again. Have had no days where I'm in bed unable to breath since starting, although I have not felt back to where I was before all this began. How long did it take to really help your husband, I dont know what I'll do if it doesn't work?
I must say, the xolair has been a wonderful med for my husband! No prednisone (YEAH) and just 2 inhalers 2x a day. He must not have as much sensitivity to pollens, grasses, etc. as you. Stick with it, it took him about 4 to 5 months to completely be able to be off the prednisone. Take care.
I started Xolair in August 2004, almost a year ago. I had been on prednisone for 19 years (since I was 16) and was able to get off of it for 2.5 months. In May, I started having problems again. I found out sometimes the prednisone can mask the IG. Because of that, my dosage had been off. So once I was off the prednisone and my worst season began, I started getting worse. My doc and I finally got the insurance and the drug company to agree to a dosage increase, and I once again am doing much better. I went from shots once every four weeks, to every two weeks. Which is a pain, but better than not breathing! I am just about off the prednisone again! Thank God. To me it has been a miracle drug. I would suggest asking your doctor if a dosage increase may be needed.
I LOVE XOLAIR. It has made all the difference in my quality of life.
