Discussions that mention xopenex

Children's Health board

I am just joining this group trying to find more info. I have a 2 1/2 year old little girl who goes an Mon. to have a sweat test done. She has been in and out of the hospital too many times to count with respiratory problems. She has had RSV and Pneumonia both a couple of times. We have tried to keep her away from any other sick people and she still gets sick. Even just a virus and we are back in the hospital. I have done a lot of reading but was curious if anybody had any answers to a few questions. What is considered greasy bulky bowel? My daughter goes poop at least 4 or 5 times a day and it is always large and greasy looking. Any comments? Also I read about too much chloride in there sweat but does that mean my child would also sweat more? she wakes up from naps drenched from head to toe? If anybody could help I would love any info sent this way. Thanks again and GOD bless.

I also failed to mention my daughter iwas diagnosed with asthma at about 6 mths. and is currently taking singular, and xopenex and pulmicort daily via a nebulizer.
I hope I can give you a glimmer of hope. Sometimes you can have some of the symptoms of CF and not have CF. My daughter has two polymorphisms called M470V (she got one from me and one from dad) and she has had some major respiratory problems including RSV, Pnemonia, repeated ear infections, Chronic sinus infections but she doesn't have CF. She definately has asthma though (her dad's family has a history of it.) Her doctor is actually a CF doctor and she says basically M470V may act like CF in some ways but it is not CF.

On her 1st birthday we took her to the hospital because she was having trouble breathing. Before her second birthday which was last November she was in the hospital 8 times. We were beginning to think we might never get it under control but after a year I think we might be getting the right combination of medicines. She hasn't been in the hospital in 4 months now.

Anyway I just wanted to share with you that it is a possiblity to have some of the symptons of CF without having CF. My daugher is on Flovent, Xopenex, Atrovent, Zyrtec, Zantac, Rhinocort, Omeprazole and whatever antibiotic they have her on at any given time. This time it is Cipro.
