Hormone Problems board

Hi annemv,
Thanks for your response! I actually went to the doc today...it's amazing when you say I think I have strept throat that you can get in the same day! This doctor finally listened to me and tested my hormones. I won't find out what the levels are until next week. I haven't had them tested in 2 years because I can't find a doc who will for some reason. I haven't had an MRI but she was concerned that I didn't have one after the first time the prolactin was high. Apparently high levels of prolactin indicate some type of growth on the pituitary gland she said. She was also checking my thyroid and testosterone levels in addition to the prolactin. Right now I don't have insurance so she didn't want to do to many tests. Having those 3 done was $500! She did switch my bc pill and wasn't sure why my other doc hadn't put me on it. She switched me to Yaz becasue she said there is a component in it that helps prevent the excess hair growth.

If you or anyone else reading this can give me more info about prolactin I would greatly appreciate it. I am wondering because I have something very weird going on with my breasts - not sure if prolacting has anything to do with it though. My breasts have never stopped growing. When I was 18 they were a 36C now I'm 24 and they're a 36G and I have had very little if any weight gain. Can prolactin cause this? Can another hormone cause it? The doc said it was hormonal but didn't seem to know what hormone caused it or how to stop the growth...

Thanks!
