Weight Loss board

Hi. Could you tell me if you gained any weight using Lexapro? I'm on it too and have put on weight, that's why I'm trying the Trim Spa.
Thanks so much!

Salty, I have never taken Lexapro (which is just a variation of Celexa) but my Zoloft has caused MAJOR weight gains for me!! I had nearly allowed everyone (including my doc) to convince me that Oh, it's just your metabolism slowing, etc. but I *definitely* think it is from the Zoloft--gained nearly 30 pounds since August or September  I have quit taking my Zoloft (pray for my hubby! LOL) and am a bit anxious today, but am starting aerobics and fitness training to hopefully get this weight off. I might add that I had not changed my eating habits or exercise (meaning I never did it intentionally before ;) ) but still was gaining weight. I started walking 3 miles/day and dieting just before I got married so I could fit in my dress and STILL didn't lose any weight....just maintained. I stumbled across these boards which are full of testimonials from people who have had this same problem, which is ironically very encouraging! At least I feel like I have some support and that I was NOT imagining the side effect of weight gain....any info/success stories from people who stopped taking their AD and lost the weight??
Hi Sweetmelissa, thanks for writing. I'm sure it's the SSRI I am taking too, but I haven't seen too many people write that they have gained weight on it. I think people have actually switched from other antidepressants to Lexapro to help them not gain weight.
I know I have to start exercising again. For some reason, I am having a hard time getting motivated. The Lexapro does wonders for my depression and anxiety. I really, really don't want to go off of it.

I agree...there are a LOT of benefits to taking it. I have been suffering from severe depression and anxiety for six years. The Zoloft has been just one of many SSRIs that I have tried, including Paxil, Celexa, Effexor, and Prozac. I really like how it evens me out, BUT there are some major drawbacks, too. There is the weight issue, which has become a much BIGGER issue (pardon the pun), which leaves me in a Catch 22: feel more emotionally stable but be miserable with how I look, which in turn leaves me depressed, or come of the meds, exercise more--which helps with depression and anxiety btw--lose the weight and allow my husband to even look at me. :p Which brings me to yet another issue...the sexual side effects. But it has really been the weight gain that has prompted me to even think about stopping my meds. I am considering asking for a trial of Wellbutrin, as I have been told that the side effects are not as severe. Like I said, for me the biggest thing right now is the weight. I am miserable!! I have never had a weight problem in my life and was always that twit that could eat whatever and never gain. Now I can just catch a whiff of a cheeseburger and have to go up a pant size! LOL

i really hope that you do not mix an ssri with trimspa. I dont want to even explain the danger in doing something like this.

furthermore on this subject.

I hope that you people who take trimspa or any other product do not plan on taking it for long. Im glad that you lost weight. But noone knows what the long term effects are on these products whether it be ephedra free or not. i dont understand why people just dont go the all natural way whether it be building muscle or losing weight

The Natural, what do you know about mixing SSRI's with Trim Spa? You have me concerned now.

well 1st off. you say you have anxiety. I am a person of anxiety also and in my past ive been on zoloft and prozac.

when i wasnt on either. I tried a epehdrine product. Something called adrenaline, whcih was pulled off the market. When you already have anxiety, taking a product will make it a lot worse. You will shake, you will become scared. you will sweat all over.

Thats when you are not on an SSRI.
You are never, and trust me, never suppose to mix anything with an ssri. It is very dangerous. If you are on an SSRI and you drink liquor, the effects of the liquor will be greater. I did drink, and got drunk alot quicker, buts that all i did. I strongly suggest you do not mix anything with an SSRI. It will mess with your mind, and your anxiety will sky rocket through the roof, especially on a panic attack form.

Im just looking out for you. I wouldnt want to see you black out, freak out or anything of the sort. Now if you already have taken an ephedra or epehdra free product while you are on an SSRI, and nothing happened to you. well then maybe you can continue doing it. But dont forgot anxiety/panic attacks can happen at any moment of any time, no matter how long or how much of a product you take.

I would reccomend trying to lose weight (if thats even what you are trying to do) without trimspa. In plus, I wouldnt trust using a product like that anyways. No one really knows the long term effects on the heart and body of trimspa, or any product close to it.

What is SSRI? I have been reading this post because I was interested in purchasing & trying Trimsp for a quick jump start of losing 10 to 15 pounds that I have put on...I'm also taking 30mil of Paxil.
THANKS.

an SSRI is medication used for depression and anxiety.

Im pretty sure paxil is an SSRI, but im not 100% sure. Either way paxil is used to control anxiety. So id stay away from the trimspa if you could. If i were you i would try other ways in losing weight. Taking trimspa isnt going to do anythin anyways. People seem to not understand this. You can take all the trimpsa you want, if you dont exercise, diet or eat the right foods you will see zero results. Diet, jog if its nice where you live, or walk/jog the treadmill. Dont eat junk food or any drink any soda. Drink water. If you dont see results in this, then maybe consider trimspa if you must.

Also more on the SSRI's. Examples of SSRI's are zoloft and prozac
