Pain Management board

Hi all,
I have been on the patch for about 2 months. I am on the 25 ugh, but I keep some of the back covered, as I am just too paranoid about meds, not just my pain meds, but any meds; part of my OCD, anxiety/depression...I have hydrocodone for BT, and I take half of a Klonopin at night for sleep. I was also on Zoloft, had been on it for almost 8 months, and had noticed since I have been on the patch that my depression was worse...I have been " chalking it up" to my Mom's battle with lung cancer, she lives with my family and I, and I have spent the last 5 weeks day and night in the hospital with her...so, I just figured my increased anger and depression was a lot due to that. My Interstitial Cystitis has been way bad, too, but I know that stress can really throw me into an exacerbation with it. I also have RA, Fibro, IBS, Migraines, and have had over 13 kidney stones in the past, wow, that is enough of my problems for now, sorry for the vent... . Anyways, my Dr. had me switch to Paxil, and I have only been on it for about 4 days, but I already feel like the depression and anger are not as bad...we also came home from the hospital last Friday, thank goodness!! I don't know if there is any correlation between the patch and depression or not, but just wanted to give my experience. I do agree that this chronic pain is enough to cause depression in a person even if there is no history of it...I do think that the patch has made a BIG difference in my IC pain, I only get up 5-6 times most nights to go to the restroom instead of every 15 minutes or so, and the constant burning "on fire" feeling is much alleviated!!
I am glad to hear of others on the patch, with good results, as it helps to talk and get feedback.
Good Luck,
KF
