People who have taken prozac can you please tell me of your experiences? I went to my psychatrist and he put me on 10mg of prozac...I asked him not to at first because I have heard about people going crazy on it..but he said all these good things about it that I have decided I will try it...haven't as of yet because I have really bad panic attacks...I would love to hear some good things about this from people out there so I don't feel so jumpy about it. I have tried zoloft(really did not like!!!), lexapro, paxil and effexor...do u think prozac could be a lifesaver or make me crazier? Thanks.
I'm currently on Prozac. I love it, honestly, I have noticed such a huge difference. I actually feel like I can function now. My house is clean for the first time EVER! I have the motivation to get dressed and leave the house during the day. I can be rational. I can deal like a "normal" person.

When I first started taking Prozac I had insomnia for about 3 weeks, but that eventually went away. I felt a little sleepy, and yawned alot. Now I've been on it about 8 weeks and I have absolutely NO side effects anymore.

Prozac is also used in treating Bulimia, and although I'm not bulimic, I am a compulsive/emotional eater. I've noticed a HUGE difference with my appitite while taking Prozac. I no longer feel the urge to eat unless I'm hungry. I haven't been dieting, only eating less and I have already noticed weight loss.

Another benefit for me is that it is a perventive for my tension headaches. My headaches happen less often now and are generally less intense.

I have tried Zoloft before and I hated it. I felt like I was in a haze and felt like I could not feel emotions fully. I have none of that with prozac, I feel completely normal, minus the depression.

If I were you I'd give it a try for a few months. You will NOT go crazy. The worst case senerio you wouldn't like the way it makes you feel and you can switch to a different med. Give it atleast 2 months though, because with most antidepressants you will experience some side effects at first, which should go away in time.
I just started Prozac, I'm on day 2 of 10mg. I have tried zoloft, paxil, lexapro, effexor and wellbutrin. All had bad side effects. So far on prozac i'm a little sleepy after i take my dose in the morning but after about 3 hrs, i wake up full of energy and feel normal. Slept for only 6 hrs at night but feel ok. So, I too am waiting to see if it will work. I will be pretty discouraged if prozac doesn't because i'm running out of options with meds as you can see. I'm seeing a therepist too for the past month every week. So far, all she has told me is to give up coffee, eat right, excersise and breathe when stressed. Good grief, you need a degree in psychology to know that! Today will probably be the last time i see her unless she says something useful.

I have taken prozac for over 10 years off and on. I have tried several other drugs without luck. I was very reluctant to try prozac, it was a life saver for me. I had to give it time to work and that was the hardest part. I looked for reasons to stop taking it, but I never had any. It helped me. I have stopped and started it several times. I was up to 80mg a day, and now I am at 40mg. a day. It may take some adjustment in the dosages. Hope this helps.. undefined
