I was on Zoloft for about 10 years - helped me quite a bit. Then it stopped working and I was put on Effexor about 2 years ago. Now it has stopped working. Does the body just get used to this stuff and quit working like this?
What are my options now? I'm miserable. Absolutely no motivation or desire for anything. All I do is sleep whenever I'm not working. This is no way to go thru life! Suggestions ????

This is not uncommon at all, especially after so long. I'm sorry this is no way to go through life, you are right.

I can only suggest maybe more tryptophan in your diet; carbohydrate will release it into the brain to make serotonin....so you could eat a protein with a bit of juice or bread to get that effect. Also, fish oil is supposed to really help depression, they did a clinical study on it....eating fish like salmon also a plus.

I know it's hard, but maybe start working in a bit of exercise to get those endorphins going. It can be a simple walk to start, intil you build more indurance. Good luck I hope you feel better soon!

If you have been off of Zoloft for 2 years, it may very well work for you again. I, too, had Zoloft "poop out" after several years. After being off for about a year and half, I'm back on it and it works every bit as well as it did the first time and at a very low dose.

I know how you feel. I was on Effexor for a year before it stopped working. I tried to go without meds for awile and that didn't work. I have just tried Lexapro and it did absolutely nothing good or bad and now I am trying zoloft and it doesn't seem to be doing anything at all either.
