: : I was wanting to know if people had success with only walking or running pertaining to weight loss. I have heard that walking is better. Can you lose the same amount of weight doing either? Which one is better for weight loss? Any feedback, success stories would be appreciated. Also please include diet, exercise regiments.

: : Thanks

rob, one other question. Do you think it is better to eat 5-6 smaller meals/snacks than the standard 3 meals? Of course, this is taking into account low fat, high protein food sources.
: Basically, running or walking the same distance you burn the same amount of calories. Running just does it faster. I would definetly say walking (fast pace) is better for weightloss, since running puts more strain on your legs. Depends on how outta shape you are. Certainly after a few weeks of brisk walking you're going to start feeling like running, believe me :)
: As far as diet goes, heres my view on the best possible way to lose weight:
: Regular cardio activity (walking) 30 mins a day is really good if you can keep it up.
: Weight training 4 times a week, nothing heavy, you're trying to bulk down here, not bulk up.
: Balanced, Low fat diet.
: Heaps of vegetables, fruit, fish, whole grains & unrefined food. less of everything else. You really need to change your lifestyle, its the only way to do it, keep it off, and not only do you lose weight, but you become much healthier and fitter. If you can get into a routine after a month or 2, you'll wonder how you could ever eat those greasy hamburgers, i swear, this is what happened to me. I used to hate exercise, now i cant wait to get home so i can go for a run. You should be able to safely lose about 3-4lbs a week at maximum. The trick is routine, trust me, once you get going you'll wonder why everyone says weightloss is so hard, its not hard - it just takes a while, the sooner you accept the fact that you're going to have to be patient to lose weight, the sooner you can get started on the _real deal_. No drugs, no low carb, no high carb, no herbs, no anything. Exercise, healthy eating, routine.
: good luck mate
