: I have had a foot problem for three years now which I thought was like a bunion that I thought would eventually go away. At first, it was just nagging me but it has become progressively worse and lately it has been getting really bad to the point where I can hardly walk and I am in a lot of pain.
: It hurts on the top side of my left foot at the whole area where you tie your shoelaces.
: What happens is that whenever I have to walk for awhile, the shoe lace area becomes very swollen and throbs badly so that the following day I can hardly walk. Then when I stay off my feet, the swelling gradually goes away until I walk again. Also, I can no longer even tie my shoe laces because it has become so sensitive.
: I have stayed off my feet as much as possible during the last 6 months and hardly walked at all during these winter months but it still seems to be getting worse.
: Last month I went to see a foot doctor and he said it is arthritis but I don't believe him. When I walk and my foot bends as I step forward, my foot makes a cracking sound. It seems like something is being irritated and that is what is causing the swelling.
: The problem is not going away and getting worse. I'm only 33 years old and I don't want to spend the rest of my life like this. I'm kind of desperate and don't know what to do. Is there anyone who might know what this problem is and how it might be treated. I have orthodics and it is not helping. I don't know what to do.

I too have lots of foot problems, have had for past 6 yrs. It started with the tendons in the arch tightning, then pains along the side of my foot, then swelling in my heel on sides, also had & still have the cracking as walk at times.Went to foot Dr thats how I found out all this. Well 1 yr ago I went to an arthrits Dr & besides those problems with my foot I also have buldgeing archilles tendons(4) on very back of my heel. To this day I have not found out exactly how this all came about, but maybe caused by the arthritis. You cant imagine all it can do to your body parts. Hope you find out. Good Luck!
