Well, It is day four post surgery for me (one foot only) and have to say I have not had any pain!! The swelling is modest and have been told to do the extension/flexsion exercises already. I have the other foot done in three weeks and looking forward to getting back out running by mid-February. Maybe it is too early to tell but I am very pleased with my outcome.

: I just wanted to share my experience. I've read so many of these stories about pins, crutches, etc., but it's not necessary. An orthopedic surgeon performed bunion surgery on both of my feet on April 7th. They scrape off the bunion, press in the bone to straighten it and use absorbable pins or tape to set it. Never had to have pins or screws taken out! I hobbled around my house in orthopedic shoes for a few days. The recovery has been great. Keep your feet elevated as much as possible. I was out of the shoes in a few weeks because the swelling had gone down so much they didn't fit! My doctor told me to wear athletic shoes that had a lot of support, so I wore some leather hi-tops for the next 4 weeks. He also gave me elastic socks. They really helped with the swelling problems. I'd be glad to share more if you want to know. Check with your doctor about the procedure they use, and make sure it's the latest!
