: Don't give up! And don't settle for a doctor who just keeps prescribing different meds!

: I've had chronic, almost daily headaches for nearly 16 years. I've just recently found a neurologist who believed he could help me (2nd neurologist I've seen--plus chiropractors, dentists, MD, DO, etc). My new neurologist treated me for 3 months, with very little success. He then referred me to a neurosurgeon who believes my headaches actually begin in the nerves in my neck. I'll be having surgery in 3 weeks. It's the best news I've had in 16 years relating to these damn headaches! The thought of surgery is scary, yes, but the thought of being headache FREE is incredible and hard to imagine.

: My point is...don't give up. Keep searching. Do your own research. Ask a lot of questions. Change doctors if you're not getting the results. There IS hope out there.

: Good luck, and best wishes for a pain free day!!

: Kristin

Is the neurosurgeon sure that's what's causing the pain and if so how does he know? I get a lot of pains in my neck which is why I was sent for physio in the first place but it hasn't really helped up to now.

What does the operation actually do? Is it something to kind of numb the nerves so you don't feel the pain or is it repairing damage to nerves?

I know what you mean by the thought of being headache free is incredible and hard to imagine. I don't remember when I last had even just 5 minutes when I didn't have this constant pain in my head.

Hope everything goes well for you. I was on the verge of giving up because so many people are giving up on trying to help me but hearing that people out there are finding solutions after suffering and trying for even longer than I have gives me more confidence that I may one day be able to rid myself of these headaches.
