: I have extreme hypersensitivity to high pitches, tinnitis in several pitches including the sound of an insect-infested field at night, popping upon swallowing, and continual pressure in my ears that all compound when I'm stressed.

: This combo causes me to continually say "what?" to people who are trying to talk to me because the tinnitis and high pitch noises drown out the low pitch voice tones. If only I had a quarter for every time I said, "I'm sorry I can't hear you..." when in normal pitched settings. Yet, my hearing was tested and found to be in perfectly normal range. As you can imagine, this can be quite a nuisance.

: Do any of you out there also deal with this dastardly hearing-damaging combination? If so, how do you deal with it? What diagnosis have you had? Have you found any therapies to tame it or tools to replenish low frequency only noises? (A hearing aid that amplifies all sounds would be my end!)

: Also, what kind of quick witted responses have you developed for family and friends who tease about the continual "what?" & "I can't hear you!"

: Please share!
You didn't mention what the ENT doctor has said about all of this. Have you had an MRI to be certain there is nothing physically wrong that can't be corrected? Let us know what the docs have tried and/or suggested so far and maybe someone can be of more help to you.
