: : December 1999 I had a heart attack which resulted in a stent being inserted in the artery. Prior to this I had been having cramps in my left calf. Since this procedure I now have cramps in both calves when I walk with any speed. This is reducing my exercising to getting my heart better. It causes a problem when walking or biking. I have been told the cramps may result in blood clotting. "I'll know it when it happens" is the common statement. Does anyone been taken with a blood clot from cramps or knows anyone who has and what can I expect --- severe pain ? where, when, how just what??????

: A simple test can at lest to some degree show you tendancy to clot. Treatment is as simple as increasing Coumadin to an INR of 3.5. Herat attack 1 with stents Feb 1996, number 2 with stents Coma and brain damage Sept 96, Diagnosis Nov. 96, no further events since INR 3.5. Its been four years . See the link

REPLY Well. Now I know and understand a lot more about my condition. It took me half an hour just to scan the more relevent info. I will have to reread a lot deeper before my next doctors appointment. But the info is greatly appreciated as now I really see the need to push my doctor for an answer. He, at present, has taken on an attitude that it is nothing to be worried about. But I should be aware of his attitude as he did'nt get overexcited when I went to him with my first chest pains. A week later I was in the hospital with a heart attack. I am presently on meds for blood thinners, high blood pressure, chlorestoral as well as diabetic meds. Once again THANK YOU for your very informative reply. I will post information after my appointment in 5 weeks.
