: I have this unexplainable discomfort between my shoulder-blades. I'm also tired and really short winded. Sister had a triple by-pass last year; mom has arterialsclerosis, dad passed away from congestive heart failure, uncle died last year from massive coronary. I don't know if I'm just paranoid or should seek help. If I do anything requiring physical starin (like shoveling) I can't catch my breath, and my heart feels like it's goping a hundred miles an hour. Advise?

Your symptoms are exactly what I felt one week ago when I went to my doctor, had a CT scan and learned that there is a 5 1/2" diameter tumor above my heart that was making my heart race. My shortness of breath came from more than 1 liter of liquid in my plural tissue (the membrane that covers the lungs and heart) not "circulating through" like it should. Doctor says the tumor was irritating the left lung and the liquid actually caused about 2/3rds of it to collapse, thereby causing shortless of breath and no energy. I just had a biopsy last week and in a few days, we'll find out what it is. Could be lymphoma - the node in the lung/heart area of the chest, or something worse. You should immediately see a doctor. I was first diagnosed with pnemonia because of chest x-rays showing the fluid around the left lung - they thought the fluid was in the lung. But the CT scan showed the tumor. Best of luck to you! Let us know how it turns out.
