: : I get extremely short of breath upon the slightest exertion, I have no pain in my chest and X-Rays have shown my lungs to be perfectly clear. Does anyone have any ideas what this could be?
: : Thanks, Anne hello i do the same thing all day long it feels like i cant take a deep berath in although i can breath it just feels like i cant take it in deep enough to catch so i have to walk around and until i catch it .. the docter told me it was due to anxiety although i dont believe that.. also my heart beats hard a .lot to lik ewhen im sitting still i can feel it throuh my body!!1

"Hi" to both of the above. I'm not a physician, however, I have heard of both of the abovementioned conditions. For the initial inquirer; is your breathlessness accompanied with a pounding heartbeat? If so, perhaps the respondent is correct in their suggestion that it might be an anxiety, or "panic" attack. I suffered from these for awhile. They are very scary and I thought that I was having a heart attack. I found that holding my breath, then taking slow, deep, yoga-like breaths nipped this right in the bud...of course western doctors want you to be doped up with their pills so they won't suggest this. I no longer suffer from them.
Anywho, I was thinking that you might have asthma (sp?). If you suffer from allergies at some point in time, these allergies could "turn into" asthma. This way, your lungs would 'look' clean.
