I started te combo therapy (rebetron) the first week of octl and had to quit in mid-dec becaue my cd4 sells had dropped to low (from 560-300) and my vl did not be come undectable. And the sideefedts were really unbearably for me. I dont'l know how i could try using the ribivirain again..i'm contuing the interferon and the side effects are much better...i hve more headaches now, but don't feel as sick, nauseaus, and extremely tired as before...altoh i do have my days. Its taking me awile to get rid of the depression and am still dealing with that aspect of combo.People contemplating combo should be aware that different people react differenctly....maybe other medical problems are causeing some sides. I know i'm HIV + and maybe that's why i couldn't continue on the ribivatin.
Drs. should really pay more attention to the sides/complaints from clients because they are in our heards and some doctors seeem to poo-poo them.
My dr called me yesterdau (sunday) and told me i need to do some ohter test...ultra sensitive one. I'm wondering if he's thinking that the interferon is helping my HIV. my hiv vl is now<400 and it started out at 25,000. MY cd4 count was always in the 500s but during combo dropped to 300. So Dr took me off combo and continues me on interferon. The only thing i've taken is combo...then just interferon. He said he wants to do an ultra sensitive test. When i started combo (rebetron)my hepC vl had dropped from 850,000 down to 2, it's back up to 695.000. I'm just really curious to know if the interferon is helping my HIV counts. At this point it seems my hepc vl is rebounding back up to 850,000 where it started.I'd be interested to stay on the interferon if it's helping my HIV and if it is helping my liver firosing.Anyone have a similiar experience with these 2 viruses? thanks, vroom
