: : : Is anyone else taking Prinivil, and if so, are you having any side effects and what kind, and is it helping to lower your BP?
I was placed on Zestril about I year ago for high blood pressure. I took it for six months with the desired results. Then Blue Cross\Blue Sh
ield notified me they were changing my prescription from Zestril to Prinivil. Almost immediately upon beginning taking Prinival, I experienced side-effects, mainly drowsiness to the point of falling asleep wherever I happened to be. I just plain knocked me out! My PCP told me that was impossible since it was exactly the same as Zestril only from another company. After falling asleep behind the wheel of my car, I once again approached my PCP requesting that my medication be changed to something else entirely. He once again refused and I have since experienced a spell of blacking out and the continued drowsiness, lack of energy, etc. to the point of having to take a leave of absence from my job because I cannot function teaching a kindergarten class of five year old. Since blacking out I have undergone tests for just about every part of my body and everything is O.K. I have always been a very healthy individual, exercise daily, run 5K races, and have more energy than almost anyone I know. I feel my life has lost all quality still I am afraid to stop taking the medication. Has anyone else on Prinivil experienced any of these symptoms
:, Was taking Prinivil for high BP and developed a rash. That rash has been diagnosed as leukocytoclastic vasculitis. We are still treating the rash (four months later) and have discontinued taking the Prinivil
