: Hi there
: I am now 29, and was diagnosed with high bp at 26. My dr. was also concerned with this (we are far too young to have this problem). I too am somewhat overweight, but also fairly active. When first diagnosed, the doc sent me for a huge number of tests. I had tons of bloodwork....thyroid levels, hormones, liver enzymes, etc. I also had an ECG, and a chest x-ray, along with a renal scan (to check for a blocked renal artery.) Amazingly enough, everything came back fine. I do have a history of this disease in my family, and I am told that I'm lucky I caught it so early. Now that it is being controlled by meds, I have a lower risk of all the bp related problems eg..strokes etc.

: Hope this helps a bit

Rosie-- thanks for the support. I am supposed to go to the doc this Friday to discuss what we are going to do. I just feel like such a freak. Anytime I mention
it to someone, they always act like it is really weird. I was beginning to feel like a pretty bad
about myself. I am still wondering what the tests will show. Did they ever test your
kidneys? If so, what did they do?
