Al....let me give you some advice....you sound like you don't like taking medication which is something that I detest myself. I was diagnosed with HBP in Jan/99 (173/114). My doctor immediately put me on Zestril medication. I took it because I was afraid of a stroke or something with my bp as high as it was, but I also went down to the local health club and began a serious excercise program. I would quit taking the Zestril every 6 weeks to see what would happen. Each time, my bp would quickly return to high levels....until.....after 6 months when I went off the Zestril, my bp remained low and I have never had to take it again (almost 6 months now). I am still working out (20-40 mins cardio, 20 mins weight lifting) during my lunch hour, 3-5 days a week. This is not an extreme workout program, but very doable, I have just had to stick with it. I have become used to it and am also enjoying the other benefits of excercising which not only include weight loss, but better all around health and feeling great. I would encourage you to try an excercise program and hopefully solve your HBP problem as well as other benefits. Good Luck to you!
