: I have been told to go on medication for high BP. What
: is high and what is the normal? I have a hard time getting any clear information from my doctor. I have always had high BP and a High Heart Rate according to my records. I looked at my files from when I was younger and my rates are slightly higher now 20+ years later. I am 43, Non-smoker, Mild Drinker, overweight for a guy 6'1" and playa lopt of sports. I feel good for a guy that's got (2) bad knees, bad back (crushed disk), tennis elbow, and (2) rotator cups that are bad. I had a lot of fun as a young man. Sorry I got off the point, Please tell me were should I be for BP or what the numbers are for NORMAL. THanks Al

re:normal bp is considered 120/80, although normal actually depends on the patient. usually, anything over 140 systolic(top number) and 90 diastolic(bottom number) is high.
