: : Does anyone know if caffeine can elevate the blood presure? Is there caffeine in green tea?

: Everything I have read on hypertension recommends eliminating all stimulants such as caffeine and tobacco. I don't know if it actually raises blood pressure. Yes there is caffeine in green tea but I'm not sure of the amount but green tea has other benefits. For more on green tea, go to Dr. Andrew Weil's Web page, Ask Dr. Weil. Good luck.

I have been taking cardizen for two years now for high blood pressure, and notice a definite increase in blood pressure (I have my own digital monitor) and tension when I drink caffinated coffee or eat chocolate (also high in caffeine).
My doctor concurrs as to the increase in BP from caffeine.
