: I am a 31 year female...I was diagnosed in 1993. Being an adopted child there was much to learn about my family history. I have been suffering from headaches...typically about 3 a week. Today being one of those days. Anyone else suffer from headaches. Feel free to email me at [email protected], I would like to visit with you out there that have this disease. Thanks, God Bless

: : : : : what is berger's disease ???

: : : I am a 29 year old female and i was diagnosed with Berger's Disease when i was in 4th grade. I was told at the time that i would have a 50 - 50% chance of being on dialysis by the time that i was a senior in high school. well, things have been good and i am healthy so far, no medication or anything. Not all cases are doomed, i am a prime example, the only thing i am worried about is that i would like to have a baby and i would never want to pass this disease along.

: : Hi. I am 26 and was told today that I have Berger's. My nephrologist said there is little chance of my two children having inherited from me. From my previous medical records, he deduced I have had it for atleast 7 years, probably longer. I will not be taking any meds, either. I have been told to exercise regularly, though I don't know if this is because of the Berger's or Lupus (which I have tested postive for). Talk to your doc about childbearing. While my kids are fine, I have been told it would not be a good idea to have anymore due to the Berger's.

I was diagnosed with Berger's Disease a few years ago at the age of 18, although the first symptoms were apparent about six years ago. My doctor has been very vague with regard to any helpful information other than the fact that this is what is causing my hematuria. His only recommendation has been for me to have a 24-hour urine analysis annually, however, I understand that this is not an uncommon approach for doctors to take with Berger's patients.

In the past four months I have experienced two episodes of becoming quite ill with sore throat, fever, and lower back pain. Both times my hematuria was very excessive, my urine being pure red. The first time I went to the hospital and underwent a renal scan, and my renal function was found to be normal. My doctor informed me that this would indicate that the severe hematuria was merely coincidental in relation to my illness. However, again I became ill with the same symptoms a few months later and, once again, my hematuria was more apparent than usual.

I am wondering if anyone has had a similar experience? I find it odd that both times my illness was in correlation with the severe hematuria.
