I was diagonised with PCOS 3 yrs ago since then i have had so many problems as regards to weight loss. I also have been told that i may not be able to concieve which is quite a shock. I have so many probs when my period does decide to come which is twice a year if i'm lucky, i have ben given treatment as regards to heavy periods but in full the help that i've got has been v insufficient. I'm 22 yrs old now. : : : I am 20 years old, and am going thursday to my gyno to talk to her about the possibility of PCOS. I haven't had a period in who knows how long, I was always very involved in athletics until my weight made it hard for me, and I display all the symptoms I have been informed of. My main concern now is not children, I know advances are being made every day,and I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. My main concern now is weight loss. Has anyone dropped a significant amount of weight once they were diagnosed? Also, what is the current treatment of PCOS, and how effective is it in stopping the symptoms? Like the dark hair, etc.? Any information would be wonderful,
: : I am curious what is PCOS?

: Poly Cystic Ovary Syndrome....or something to that effect. It's when your ovaries are covered
: with cysts. I don't have it, but I understand that it can be painful, and makes conceiving almost impossible. Other side effects include weight gain and facial hair. ( a dark mustache or growth on the chin area especially. )
