: We've tried the clomid. And now are going to a fertility specialist. What is going to happen on our first visit.
Nervous: I experienced infertility for 20 years,
Needless to say, in that time I've seen alot of specialists. I was always nervous too, I think almost everyone feels that way. There is so much riding on this and you have to feel comfortable and confident in this Dr. and their staff. Every Dr.has their own way but basically the first visit is alot of talking. They do a medical history on everyone. And go over what you have experienced so far in trying to concive. Usually they ask you how aggressive you want to be (if not, tell them). It's something to think about before hand. This can involve alot of time and money, which unfortunately can have an effect on what we can do. Sometimes they do simple tests that day, like blood and urine. Not every Dr. I went to did a physical exam, but most did. Many have a "check list" of tests to be done. An organized way to make sure that nothing has been over looked. This can be quite overwhelming but hang in there. Usually they start with all the simple tests, and progress to the harder ones (invasive). They will usually do some tests on your husband too. None of them like this, but they need to rule out a problem there. Some will give you a general idea of where they feel you stand. Telling you what looks positive and what looks negative. And most give you statistics. They come up with a plan of action. Be sure that you're clear on it. Alot of these test have to be done on a specific day in your cycle, you don't want to miss them and have to wait another cycle. Be sure to bring a list of all your questions. Good luck. I hope this helps. By the way, I finally did have a child. He's 5 months old. Beautiful and healthy.
and so much fun!!
