: Thanks Wendy! It turns out that you are correct. I have ETD. Now....The only thing that he did was give me a decongestant. Do you suggest doing anything else

Great! You have a diagnosis. That's the hardest part, I think, getting a diagnosis and knowing what is going on in your head. How did they determine you have ETD? Was it the tympanogram or are they just going with clinical symptoms?

As far as treatment, I tried the decongestants. I was on Guifenisen, Claritan, Allegra, Semprex-d and Alka Seltzer Plus Cold Medicine. Nothing worked for me. I also tried nasal sprays, Nasacort, Nasonex, and Flonase. They also did not work for me. Cortisone and Anitbiotics also did not help. But you need to try this route before going to the next step. They (doctors) claim that those meds are very effective against ETD. You may also want to try putting a steam humidifier next to your bed at night. That gave me some relief. There have been people I have talked with online who said that "auto inflating" of the ears helped. A good site to check out

For me, after months of trying everything, I ended up having ventilation tubes put in my ears. I have to say, I am feeling much much better. It has been 6 weeks since I had the tubes put in. Very slow healing process. The fullness feeling went away almost immediately. The soreness lingered for about 2-3 weeks and the lightheadedness is just going away now. I would have a day or 2 here and there without the dizzy feeling and now, it's is just every once in a while I will feel off. It is wonderful to be finally getting my life back.

If you have any more questions, please let me know. (I am here all the time, hoping to help others who have what we have)

Best of Luck to your healing,
