: Has anyone found a problem with foods they eat frequently? I have a hard time eating breakfast in the morning so I started eating Quaker Granola bars each morning. These never caused a problem until about six months later. All of a sudden, for three mornings in a row I started having attacks. A co-worker (who is very aware of my IBS) started asking what I had been eating for the last couple of days and I said only my granola bars! The next morning I didn't have a bar and I was fine. The next day I tried a bar again and had an attack! I cannot eat a granola bar now at all without having problems. I have had this problem with a few different foods that otherwise should not cause a threat. It is like I become allergic to anything I originally found helped things. Any advice???????? Please??????????

I have this problem all the time. Especially with processed foods such as bread, pasta or anything with wheat or wheat starch in it. I've discovered I have Celiac Disease (confirmed now). It is basically an allergy to wheat, rye, barley and oats. I can eat meat without a problem, eggs, fresh fruit and vegatables, dairy, etc, but bread, pasta, or anything like that I have to avoid. One thing I have discovered is that anything that include GUAR GUM will act as a laxative. I used to have really bad diarrhea eating slim fast bars. I checked the package recently and they have GUAR GUM. No wonder! Some popsicles have guar gum as well. I've discovered if you have IBS with diarrhea, read the contents on packages carefully, because Guar Gum will make your situation worse!
