: : Hi there!
: : I'm new to this stuff but feel a little better already knowing there are places like this to help myself!!

: : My situation is as follows; I have IBS, my main symptom is continuous diarhea with once a month (or so) having really bad stomach pain for a couple of hours followed by diarhea (usually at night time). My worst time of the day is the morning. After being up one or two hours the diarhea hits. The funny thing is, if I sleep in, past 10:00 a.m. it doesn't hit until later in the day!

: : I am starting to modify my diet, eliminating sugar and other complex carbs.

: : My occupation requires long periods of time being away from a washroom (sitting in a vehicle). As any of you know, the uncontrolable diarhea makes that a hard thing to do. For a short term solution I turned to Imodium. Taking two pills when I wake up and one more every couple of hours until early afternoon usually stops the diahrea. Then, after several days of this I have somewhat normal BM's.

: : So, my questions...What effects could taking imodium have on me if I continue this way? and why are my symptoms usually bad in the morning?

: : I realize everyone is different and that what works for some will not work for others. That however, should not stop us from talking about what works for us. We can beat this thing, with the help of doctors, friends, family, places like this, and good old fashion determination.

: : You guys are doing a great thing on this site and are helping many people, including me.

: : "I'd rather die on my feet than live on my knees"

: : Never surrender!!!!!!

: Hi Troy!
: I am brand new to board too. My 15-year-old son, mornings are the worst, if he can get past the wee hours of the morning (he has to be at school extremely early), he is okay. I have nothing to say but thanks for your post as I came on the board to post EXACTLY the same question - how many people take Imodium prophylactically and does it work for them. Thanks and good luck.

Hi I am new to the board also and I am a little desparate since my 15 year old son has been diagnosed with IBS It is always very bad in the morning which often results in missing school.I was wondering if this was a problem for others. He is on medication already and this is still a problem for him. Any suggestions?
