: Mahalo!

: I just need to vent for a minute. I got back from a week's stay in Oahu (my first "real" vacation in several years and my first travel experience with full-blown IBS).

: The island was magnificent, the people/culture enchanting and I can honestly say that this was my first trip that I've come back lighter than I left.

: I keep trying to find out my "trigger" foods but so far it's been elusive at best and frustrating at worst. I now know every bathroom on Oahu and,
: at one point I had to lie down on a park bench from sheer exhaustion. Thank God for Imodium, but even that has it's limitations.

: Harry, I've been taking my fiber suppliments and I watched everything I put into my stomach on the trip, but it still was a limiting experience (view Hawaii from the inside of a stall - aaaaargh).

: I refuse to be housebound for the rest of my life and I work very hard to earn a vacation every few years, so it was discouraging.

: However, I am plugging forward with a colonoscopy to look forward to next month.

: Film at 11:00 (ha).

Hi DoriB:

It certainly is great to see you have a sense of humor about whole thing we live with. I know exactly what you mean about vacations being ruined by this problem. You are in a different place with different food and different water and the bowel just loves to seize on the opportunty to torture what should be a relaxing and fun time. I hope your colonoscopy goes well. They are another pain for those with IBS because there can be a lot of post-procedure cramping. I hope that they find nothing going on in there that shouldn't be. Keep us posted. JR
