: I was diagnosed with either IBS or Crohns (haven't had "the test" -- waiting for insurance). I have had symptoms for ten years. When I was 14 they put me on an ulcer diet. When I was 18 they put me on a gas-free diet. When I was 19 they said I had epilepsy because I would cramp and pass out. Now they say it's probably IBS compounded by endometriosis (what it probably always was). I have no triggers -- meaning, I get sick even when I'm eating Jello and chicken broth. When I'm stressed I wake up a lot during the night with nausea and pain and then get violently ill in the morning. I vomit when the stress gets really bad.

: Here's my dilema. I dropped out of the working world to go back to school and try to go to medical school. I had my first exam last week and my second in a few days. I never had this in undergraduate school, but I can't sleep because of the pain and I can't eat until after 1 PM (because of the nausea). This is not good. I have to get up at 5 AM in a few days to take an exam and I just know that I'm going to be a wreck -- vomiting, diarrhea all morning, etc. Anybody know how to fight off an attack like that? I'm trying to get a lot of sleep, excercise, eat bland foods, have some fun, but I still am sick every morning and it's not even the day of the exam yet? I don't "feel" stressed, but obviously my body has a different opinion.

: Sorry so long-winded -- I really need some advice. I do have medicine (hyoscyamine) but it makes me groggy so I only take it for emergencies.

: Thanks! :)

Hi! I just posted a message on the board but saw your plea and thought I'd send you a copy of my message just in case it could help you. I have had nausea, vomiting, and a horrible taste in the back of my throat when experiencing the pain too.
Here it is:
Hello fellow sufferers,
My name is Shelley. 2 1/2 years ago I was diagnosed with cervical cancer and underwent surgery. In addition I was given intense raditation therapy. I'm happy to say that I'm in remission. As a consequence of my therapy I developed IBS. I've had severe abdominal pains (like a knife cutting up my insides), alternating diareaha and constipation, and blockage that has resulted in vomiting before any relief. I've been to countless doctors and a nutritionalist through my HMO. The advice I've been given is to do a trial and error approach to my dietary intake. In other words, if I eat it and it hurts, don't eat it again. I've been given and have tried different prescribed medications. Nothing has helped. day I was talking to a friend I made online about my stomach dilema, and he shared that a friend of his has had similar problems. She had tried digestive enzymes that she purchased at a health food store and found relief immediately. He said that I should give it a try.

From the day I took the first tablet (4 weeks ago) I haven't had another pain!!! IT'S A MIRACLE!!!!!!

I want to share my good fortune with as many people as I can. I know that I'm not alone out there. I know that there are many of you out there suffering and feeling frustrated because there seems like no solution. I am sorry to say that I'm also aware that the reason doctors don't tell us about this remedy is because it doesn't bring in any money because it isn't a prescription medicine. It's sad that a profession that swears to promote the health of it's clients, gives in to the arm wrestling HMO's, and sacrifices the patient to pain and suffering, rather that suggest an alternative to medicine.

You may want to explore the expansive array of digestive enzymes available before making a selection. You may also want to discuss your individual needs with a nutritionalist at the health food store so that he/she can help you decide. Here's what worked for me:

Nature's Plus
Ultr Zyme
Maximum Strength
Digestive Enzymes

Good luck to you. Feel free to contact me with any questions. I'd love to hear your success story!
