: Hi everyone: Here is another question...fiber (metamucil or citrucel) only seems to make the diarrhea worse for me. Is there an amount to take for diarrhea vs constipation. It seems like fiber is great to relieve constipation, but what about the diarrhea. Does anyone have any idea how much fiber should be taken for diarrhea predominant IBS...or an idea of perhaps another drug/substance that can be taken on a daily basis to eliminate diarrhea and promote a normal solid stool? I need something that I can take regularly so that I won't have to worry about things like eg "next week...about that trip I am supposed to go on...what if I have diarrhea as usual? ...etc" Thanks everyone :)

Hi Roger. I started metamucil packets smooth texture orange flavor in a 8 oz water 3 times a day just before my meals. The very same day my BM stared to form and the D stoped. However read some of Harry's postings on ths Board. He is the fiber KING! I read every ones posting to see what I can pick up and see what workes for me. Stick with us, we will help each other and you will find people that have the same problems or almost the same. Practice and see what works for you. Good Luck,CP
