Fiber,
There are two(2) types of Fiber --- Water Soluble and Insoluble. Metamucil and Citrucel are both mostly water soluble fiber supplements. Both are bulk stool forming agents that regulate your bowel movements. They both will slow down diarrhea and relieve constipation.

Metamucil comes in a powder form only and contains psyllium seed husk---it ferments in your intestines and your intestinal bacteria breaks it down producing some gas and flatulence. This usually goes away after a few days. I find it has a sort of lubricating effect and help produce a formed stool. There are other brands that contain psyllium powder and you can get psyllium in capsule form from most health food stores.

Citrucel contain methylcellulose a semi- synethetic soluble fiber that does not break down non ferment in your intestines. As a result it does produce less "GAS". It does not come in a capsule form ---only powder but flovored, with or without sugar just like Metamucil.

FiberCon contains calcium polycarbophil. It acts like an insoluble fiber.

Some examples of mostly water soluble fiber foods are most fruits and veggies, beans, lentils, oat products and oat bran, rice, potatos, root veggies like carrots, beets, turnips.

Examples of foods that are mostly insoluble are wheat products and bran, nuts, cauliflower, bananas, green beans.

Dairy and Meat have NO(zero) FIBER.
Water soluble fiber helps make your colon( large intestines) work better. Most people only get about 1/3 of the fiber they need for their GI tract to function properly.
God Bless---Harry
