: : Never take any form of calcium when taking thyroid medication. Watch out for foods with added calcium, too, such as orange juice.

: : Only take the thyroid med on an empty stomach, first thing in the morning. Wait at least one hour before eating anything that might bind with the thyroid and prevent absorption.

: Don't take or eat anything with soy, including soy based estrogens (estradiol)with synthroid or thyroid...

Hey Linda and all,

My family doctor, the one who initially mentioned calcium to me (which is
the reason I went on the search and found the newsgroup and the instructions
on how and why calcium might work)... asked me a favor. She has been asked
to speak on one of our local tv affiliates on the topics of IBS and peptic
ulcer disease etc. The lady who is to interview her on tv asked her if she
has a patient who has had any dramatic change in her symptoms and she
thought of me. They asked if I could join her in the tv spot and tell my
story about calcium helping my IBS.!!!!

Linda, just think how many folks will hear of what calcium has done for me!
Perhaps many people will be helped. Even though calcium is not the answer
for everyone, just having the tv exposure for the topic of IBS sufferers is
terrific and is bound to help some folks.

I told my doctor I'd be thrilled to help, in the hopes that someone is
helped by the information I can share. She will let me know more details
soon. I'll pass the info along, though I doubt many of you are close enough
to SC to get the broadcast.

- a side note... my son will be married tomorrow night. I made the
rehearsal dinner tonight - lasagna, salad, bread, iced tea and cheesecake
for 30 ! It was nice to be able to do all that work without worry of
cramping and diarrhea and very nice to be able to enjoy the meal as well.
Sure would have been a night to have had a killer IBS attack! All that
stress and pressure... and me sitting there armed with Caltrate.
Just have the wedding and reception to get through now and that will be
NOTHING compared to this dinner tonight.

Thanks again for all the support!
Hugs,
Laura
