: thanks for your previous help. i'll be getting the results i've my blood tests re thyroid problems on Thursday (30th).
: i do have a couple more questions i'd be very interested to hear about if/ when you get time:
: since you had your thyroid gland removed, how has that affected your life ?
: was it an improvement ?
: what difference did it make to ibs trouble?
: is graves disease a severe form of hypo or hyperthyroidism?
: and last one:
: i think you said before you had caeliac disease, if that's correct do you finf avoidance of gluten helps?
: MICKo.

1. Avoidence of gluten is ESSENTIAL. Wheat, barley, rye and oats. An allergy to gluten is Celiac Disease.

2. Graves disease is a form of hyperthyroidism (too much thyroid hormone in the system).

3. If I had not had my thyroid gland removed, I would have died at probably 26 years old of a heart attack. I now can sleep ( I would only sleep 4 hours, not consecutive) every 72 hours) My heart rate was 110...RESTING. I'm not hot all the time and one of the best changes was my diarrhea was improved considerably. It never went away, but then discovered it was due to Celiac. I did away with products containing gluten and my diarrhea has stopped completely. I'm normal for once (of course that depends on who you ask...) Having my thyroid gland removed was one of the best things I've ever done. Along with having my uterus removed, that is!

Hope this helps! By the way, please sign up for the new board. Many of us have gone over to the new one. This one will be discontinued soon.
