hi lisa Ihad laser surgery on both lungs in1993 at the university hospital of pennsylvania.LET me start from the beginning 1988 i had open HEART double by pass surgery at that time the doctors told me my lungs were shot and that i would evenualy be on oxygen for the rest of my life. THEY SAID I HAD BULOUS EMPHYSEMA my fev was preety low iwas seeing a very good pulmanory specialist where i lived for a number of years who found a good thorasic surgeon in philadlphia who just learned this new procedeure iwent to see him and they tested my fev it WAS .06 preety low they wheeled me into the hospital where they operated on my left lung iwas in the hospital 5 days andwent home six months later they did my right lung 10 days inthe hospital then went home after testing and quantifing the results iwas a miracle it was a big success up until now iam still not needing oxygen but i still get alittle short of breath iwas the first person to have both lungs done on the east coast. today the doctors are still trying to figure out who is acandidate for this procedure and what kind of testingis needed . PS IWAS WALKING 4 MILES A DAY AFTER BOTH OPERATIONS GOOD LUCK
