Has anyone had improved symptoms after taking thyroid? What kind of thyroid was taken and how much, if you know.

Thanx LN

: : I'm real new to the possibility of having lupus; tests aren't in yet. But, I've talked to a couple others, and coincidentally we all have thyroid problems. I haven't seen too much discussing how common it is. My TSH was 5.0, which the doctor said was normal, but I sure didn't feel normal. He checked my DHEA also and it was low. I'm trying to figure this disease out.

: : I guess, what I'm trying to find out is, 1.)are there many other people who have lupus and thyroid problems. and 2.) What was your TSH.
: : Thank you,

: I had an overactive thyroid condition corrected by removal of the thyroid in 1992. I just recently had a baby (after 2 miscarrages) and have developed signs of Lupus (which can be set off by childbirth) I will know in a few weeks how my blood work comes back, but to answer your question, I live in a small town and personally know of 2 other Thyroid patients that have developed Lupus. From what I understand, once you have had a Thyroid condition (an auto immune disease) you are more prone to get other auto immune diseases. Lupus is an auto immune disease so therefore there is a link between the two.
: Hope this is helpful to you.
