: : Hi, To everyone happy new year I have a problem I hope someone can help me out. I've had lyme since 95. and I wasn't diagnosed till 97 same story we all know thought I was going nuts bad doctor the whole bit. finally found one who found out I had Lyme plus babesia plus erlichicosis. did the bicillian shots 6 months, did zithromax, quinine, suprax.larium, doxy, minocycline, and Mepron, biaxin and I'm sure I forgot a few antibiotics but we all know the course. my Iv tx the last time was 3 months rocphen and biaxin, 1 and 1/2 years ago helped with a few things. my doctor wants to do clarafan I think it's called pulse tx IV and maye try IV flagyl my question has anyone done IV tx more than once and does that drug sound familiar? I just dont know about this again I ot really sick the last time. please if someone could talk to me about this appreciate some feedback. jon/[email protected]

: Dear Marlene:

: I am currently on IV treatment and did 3 weeks of the clarafan 3mg twice a day.
: After 2 weeks, I had a tremondous fever and by my third week I had a severe rash.
: My dr. says this is good because it shows that the iv treatment is working and is fighting
: off the lyme disease. I was off the treatment for 2 weeks and just started a new treatment
: today, it is 500 mg of Zithromax once a day IV, I have a picc line that is good for 6 months.
: I hope this information helps you. Good Luck & God Bless! Regina

marlene & regina:

my iv treatment consists of 2grams rocefin daily, administered @ ~ the same time ea day unless travel chgs my schedule. in the 4th wk i began weekly blood counts, kidney/liver scans -this i must do @ the same time ea wk. i am gaining strength and am able to do things i haven't in yrs. ie: stretch out completely; wring all wtr fr hair; breath as deeply as i am able w/out restriction fr tight muscles. i'm not saying the last one happens all of the time, however. also, my rash is no longer open/is fading slowly. i also take tricyclic antidepressants @ bedtime -they help oxygen reach my muscles w/ increased bloodflow there. in addition i take 200mg of plaquinil daily w/ food -it shoots for the core of cartilage and other hotspots were the disease is hiding. it can blur vision/build up inside the eye, so i have to see an optometrist regularly. otherwise, i'm carrying ~12lbs xtra weight. doc says not to worry b/c it's probably volume... i am surprised to hear of your taking so many antibiotics. the only ones i've been exposed to have been pennicillin (2000mg/day), doxycycline & rocefin. as far as the picc line goes, i'm ill just thinking about it. they tried 3x to install one in my L arm, but were unsuccessful. i wouldn't subject myself to another attempt (not even @ a place my doc assured me was more experienced @ installation), so i get a new iv every 72hrs, sometimes sooner depending on whether or not the iv is still good. pajamas (thirt/sweats) are my costume & pacing myself is my task... all the while, my insurance co is reviewing my claim on an ongoing basis, causing me/my doc to assure my claim gets processed by completing whatever paperwork they muster up in an attempt not to payout benefits. likewise, i hope this info is helpful to you. what are you doing financially, if you don't mind saying?
