My son has had several episodes of severe pain and diffficulty walking after a flu with fever
(5 times in 7 years) A day or so after the fever resolves, he develops the pain. During the last episode,
his CPK was elevated to 2600. The pain and resultant difficulty wallking resolves in two to three days
without any apparent remaining deficits. It appears to be acute viral myositis, except that he has had
five episodes in seven years and acute viral myositis typically is a one time occurence. In between
episodes he is fine and very active. A recent neurology exam, three weeks post pain disclosed no
muscle weakness and a CPK of 117. Does anyone have any thoughts about what this might be?
Does anyone know of a type of acute viral myositis with recurrent episodes? Thanks.
