: : I am a 49 yrs old female, postmenopausal at the age of 26 (hysterectomy). I am diagnosised with a compression fracture at my bra line (T-4). This is very painful!!! Anyone know how long this will last, and what I can do to help with the pain besides vicodin pain pills?
: : Also, anyone had the new procedure that's out there where they use some type of material to fill in the fracture? Do you get instant results? Are there side effects? Does the procedure hurt? Are you confined to bed for awhile? Lastly, can it be done as an outpatient?
: : Thanks for your time,
: : Linda

: Linda, I also had compression fractures in my lower back that was painful beyond belief! After two months of being given muscle relaxers and pain pills, I finally went to an orthopedic doctor. He immediately put me in a brace known as a CASH BRACE. This helped keep me upright and from jostling around. He was the first person that also told me that fractures take a good while to heal, usually three months or so. I was just about in a state of real depression over this,as you never realize the blessing of just being able to roll over in bed, until you can't!
: Hang in there, it does get better. I had six at one time, believe me, I understand you need for help.

Linda, please check out the following website. This may give youo the information you are looking for.
