: I was in a car accident 2 yrs ago the car was totaled. The first thing noticed was my tibia was fractured so was put in a took about a year to finally heal. But in the mean time i was getting bad bad pain .After complaining for months my doctor sent me for an mri and emg . The mri showed i had a bulging disc in my lumbar area ,the emg showed i had nerve damage also in my lumbar and in the left leg . I've been taken pain killers for so long with little relief .He sent me to get the epidural inj.i only was given two because i had no relief . So the doctor said it would eventually work it's way out.One month later my shoulder blade was sticking out because of the muscle spasms i started to get . Now i get pins and needles in my left hand and pain in my left arm into my shoulder and down into my back . Iwas put in a cervical collar because he thought my head was putting to much pressure on my spine . He had also given me a steroid shot in my shoulder .It's help was minimal it took some of the pain away but can still feel it was there .Well 3 weeks later and it's all back again except it feels like i'm being pinched in my shoulder and it is hot and burning . I'm starting to give up this pain is to much to handle sometimes . Any answers would be greatly appreciated .THANKS !

NEVER give up. Promise all of us on the chronic pain forum that you won't give up.
We all have the same feelings at times, you have to be strong and take one day at a time.
I hope he has you on muscle relaxers and that you will consider getting a back massage by a licensed therapist Onr thing that happens when you have back pain for a long time is that your muscles can get what are commonly called trigger points. They hurt like he__. People, without realising it, automaticly protect the part of their back that hurts. This can cause the muscles to react differently and, over time (especially if there is also some stress) you can develop these trigger points. Try it.
Good luck and God bless
A massage is only $20-$30 bucks and it could relieve a lot of pain. I believe that a weekly massage is necessary for someone liveing with chronic pain. It sure helps my quality of life.
