You are on very high doses of oxycontin, but it is doubtful another agent would make any difference. Check the site for more info. You may be able to access info on Duragesic. There is an excellent conversion chart under Duragesic in the PDR or on their website.

: Dr. Whitworth,
: I was taking 80 mg/3 X day of Oxycontin sucessfully for about 9 months for a chronic, rare painful skin condition that cause constant multiple boils in the groin . As per a previous post to you, I injured my neck in an MVA in 1/00. I was at a stop light when I was rear-ended by a truck traveling at about 55 mph. Have been having severe pain in neck and mid back ever since, even with Oxy. About a month ago, I lost all sensation in left arm and hand, with severe pain and spasms in left shoulder & neck area. Recent MRI shows bulging disc at C4-C5. EMG is inconclusive. Pain Management doctor will finally treat neck problems due to severity & it has been 3 months now & considered chronic & no longer accute. Due to MRI findings, he feels surgery is my only option :-( but we did do a cervical epidural yesterday & will try again next month. 2 weeks ago he increased my Oxy to 120mg/3 X day, Oxycodone for breakthrough & added 1.5 mg of Klonipin/3 X day. Klonipin seems to help the spasms, but Oxy has not been very effective. Increased doses again yesterday to 160 mg. Oxy/ 3 X day & doubled dosage of Klonipin. I am concerned about the extremely high doses, but it has to be better than the 8 Oxycodones per day I was forced to take for constant breakthrough. Hoping epidural will help a lot.
: Question 1: Do you have any constructive advice regarding current doses or better treatment options?
: Question 2: Do you know where I can find a good website that has a conversion chart for narcotics?

: Much thanks for your time!!!!
