Maybe Kim would be better served by offering her some support. Instead, you are feeding her with some pre-conceived notion that her taking pain meds is somehow going to make her an addict. It is exactly this attitude that has people afraid to take pain meds and doctors afraid to prescribe them.

Please, next time offer some constructive ideas. this is message board that is to support people in pain, even if that means taking narcotics.

Hi Kim;

: Sorry (very sorry) to hear about your problems. I hope that you are able to go to good doctors who take the time to give you a proper exam and if they do not have the answer, refer you to a good specialist! I would caution you about taking painkillers for your problem, especially until it is diagnosed properly. Sometimes - even though you think that the painkiller isn't working that great - the painkiller will (as the name implies) kill some of the pain. As well, at 14 you don't want to spend the rest of your life relying on painkillers!!

: I was very ill as a child and spent a little over 2 years in hospital (off and on ---- in 2 weeks, out 5 days -= in 2 weeks out 2 days etc. etc.). That was a very tough time imagining what my friends were doing "on the outside". I did not have a TV in the hospital but I did have a radio. One positive thing (and the only positive thing to come from my days in hosp.) was that I learned the words to a whole bunch of songs that were put out in the 60's!!

: Sorry to hear that your relationship eneded. I hope that it was not a heavy duty one! A friend of mine gave me some advice the first time I got my heart broken!! He said, "the opposite sex is just like the bus lines. If you miss one, another one is coming along in 20 minutes.!!!!"

: So keep smiling, keep following the Dr.'s and your parents instructions and I am sure that they will solve this soon!

: Please let us know how it turns out.

: Best regards..
: Charlie
