Hi Deborah -

Just like Cindy I too can relate to everything. It is so frustrating! I have had RSD since 12/98. It started in my left arm. It spread to include my legs and neck. It DOESN'T mean that it will spread for you. A lot of people have it in just the one extremity. I am doing great now though. I can't advertise so I won't but you can e-mail me. However, some treatments work great for some and for others not at all. Unfortunately, that's another aggravating aspect of it.

When I first started with this disorder, I tried hard not to let it change things. I just wanted to be the same old me. So when I would go to work I would kind of cut it off in my mind. Did everything I could not to think about the pain, worry about what I was going to do, the docs I had to see, etc. Don't do this. All the frustration, fear, anger and anxiety, it will always find its way out. If you try to block it, it will come out at the wrong times.

Instead of fighting it, try hard to accept it. Not that you need to say that it will be your life, just to say you and your foot will need extra care. Do what you are doing now, reach out, research and learn. There are a lot of us out here. you are not alone.

For the swelling and the pain, I love the epsom salt baths/soaks. Moist heating pad is a necessity. Make sure you never use ice.

How did your nerve block go? What type was it? Did it give you any relief? Are you taking any meds? Let me know, I'll help you as much as I can.
