: : I had a double fusion on 8/5/99 at the L4-5 and L5-S1 levels using bak cages. I have had no relief and my pain has actually gotten worse than it was prior to surgery. I have had a follow-up MRI, Myelogram and Ct scan as well as flex xrays. My surgeon saw motion on the flex xrays and a little fusion on the ct scan. He has put me on another 12 10mg dose of prednisone. I am in constant pain from my right buttock, hip leg and ankle and foot. I can barely lift my right leg and have sever pain evrytime I cough or sneeze. Has anyone had similiar results from a fusion? Is it time I seek the advice of a second opinion? I cannot accept that this is the quality of life that I have left! I am a 41 year old female with teenagers to raise! Any info or advice would be most greatly appreciated!Dear Susan, I know what your going thru. I went through the same thing this past year. Back in July of 99 I underwent spinal fusion with rods & screws in the L2,3,4 area of my spine. I was in so much pain after surgery I sought out a second opinion. After more xrays, cat scan and mri I was told I too had a failed fusion. I underwent a second surgery in March of this year. I feel somewhat better but not much. Im so frustrated and sick of feeling like this. I am only 32 and I feel like Im 72 years old. Write Back if you would like, Take Care, Connie

Hello everyone,

My name is Debbie, I had surgery on my cervical spine in 1980, I have never stopped being in pain. Also I had a misdiagnos in 1993, a lsion in my back, doctor said it was normal and nothing to worry about!!!!Well guess what, it is something to worry about, From the time 1993 diagnosed nothing is wrong w/back from a pain managment specialist I know have scoliosis, sclerosis of the end plates L34,T11,12,
Narrowing of the space, osphyete formation seen at T12,L1, degenerative disc desease. What really gets me is this area T12,L1 is the same area the lesion was seen, doctor said it was normal that nothing was wrong w/back grow up, I was 35 then,
already had one surgery on my neck & now my neck has hern C34,56&7,something like Luschka joint W/spurs hypertrophy at C34,56&7. I was beat really bad by a ex and over the years my bones have really taken the beaten, but the doctors, we need to stand up for ourselves and stop letting them cripple the U>S>***over 100,000 million misdiagnos, wrong medicine or surgery mistakes have almost or has killed as many americans as the war?????? Something is wrong with this and it needs to be looked into, then just another bad surgery or a lesion that means nothings wrong thats normal?????
Check out QUACKWATCH>COM good site!!GOD BLESS deb
