Just wanted to tell my experiences to everyone, in the hopes that, if you have a spinal cord injury, there is hope and successes and beauty, and how wonderful life is!

There is the most beautiful lady in my life who experienced a C5-C6 SCI this past May (MVA). It was very traumatic, all of a sudden paralyzed from the chest down, with only shoulders, upper arm, and some wrist control. She does, fortunately have feeling throughout her body, all the way down to her toes, just no voluntary movement, so she is considered "incomplete". She is on a bowel program and has to be 'cathed' every 6-8 hours (can't do it herself), but she is doing fine.

She was released from the hospital after 2.5 months, in this condition, basically unable to do anything for herself. She can't transfer herself (weak arms), so she has two choices... stay in bed or in her wheelchair. She prefers the wheelchair so she can at least move around her apartment. I'm sure many people have experienced this same thing.

The great part of this story is, she has never given up (though she has had some tough times). She is a trooper, a fighter. And she has never given up on me. We made love for the first time since the accident last night. IT WAS WONDERFUL! Women with incomplete SCIs can still function normally. She lubricated normally and could feel me inside her. The love between us has never waivered, and that is SOOOO important.

So my story is one of strength, love and to let you know not to ever give up. Life goes on, and is wonderful!
